This trip can be enjoyed by just about anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.
There is quite a bit of walking involved in visiting Jordan's historic sites, especially in Petra and Wadi Rum, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. Most of the time there is no shade so remember to bring a hat, sun protection, and sturdy, comfortable walking shoes.
Winters can get quite cool, so if you're visiting at this time, don't forget to pack some warmer layers too.
In Wadi Rum we stay in a permanent tented camp with shared bathroom facilities. Please be aware that while the desert may be very hot during the day, it will still be cool at night and warm clothes and a sleeping bag is highly recommended when travelling outside of the summer months.

Jordan is a very special place. I especially liked that it's off-the-beaten path - it's amazing how many people asked me if it was safe! I never for one moment felt unsafe. The itinerary offered by Intrepid is perfect. We covered all of the most important sites one wants to see when in Jordan. Words and pictures do not do Wadi Rum, Petra or Jerash justice. They are truly spectacular and I felt honored to be able to experience them. If you are intrigued by the Middle East and ancient history, Jordan is a safe place to experience some of the most spectacular sites in the world. We happened to go during Ramadan which at first, was a concern. Intrepid assured us it wouldn't be an issue and it really wasn't at all. The Intrepid itinerary was perfect - we had enough time to enjoy all of the most important sites. Our guide was a local and knowledgable and fun. The group was a good mix of people of various ages and nationalities and most importantly, it was relatively small. One bit of advice if you do go: pack appropriately. You will be hiking and climbing in Petra and Wadi Rum. I brought running shoes (which I had to get rid of when I got back they were so full of sand) which were sufficient but hiking shoes would not have been a bad idea. Same with the clothing: more hiking/activewear. This is a wonderful trip. If you are considering Jordan this is the perfect trip and itinerary. This was my first time traveling with Intrepid and I will definitely use them again.
