Sooo enjoyed this trip! Our guide, Wilson, was absolutely delightful and very knowledgeable about the islands and all species. Always enjoy having LOCAL guides! Indeed the trip is quite active and offers plenty of variety. So happy to see Ecuador working so hard to preserve these amazing islands! Two notes: 1) you're not guaranteed to see penguins! ;( and 2) be prepared to carry your rented snorkel gear and wetsuit for the entire week (in addition to luggage), which is a bit of a hassle.

If time is limited and you want to pack as much into your trip as you can, I would highly suggest joining a tour group. Intrepid has small groups, so it is a nice way to meet other like minded travellers. Intrepid is not what I would call luxury travel, but they do take a lot of the hassle out of things, eg organising hotels, transfers, permits, and trouble shooting problems along the way; as well as providing personable & knowledgeable guides.
