Run around China on a marathon expedition from the Great Wall to Beijing and Shanghai.
Step your running goals up a notch with this incredible, yet challenging, marathon course along the Great Wall of China (Full, Half or 10km). Warm up in Beijing before heading to the Great Wall for the big run - the only Chinese-supported marathon in the country. This ain’t your average track; runners will navigate rough paths, sloping trails and narrow steps, so you’ll need to be fit and alert. That said, runners have the option to sign up for a full, half and ten-kilometre course, so there's something for most fitness levels. Recover with a week of travel around Northern China, taking in the Forbidden City, Tian’anmen Square, Xi’an’s famous Terracotta Warriors and stylish Shanghai. On your marks, get set, GO!

Indulge yourself with a traditional reflexology foot massage - you've earned it!
The marathon route covers three types of terrain: tarmac roads, a ten-kilometre stretch along the Great Wall itself, and mountain trails through the countryside. The section along the Wall is challenging, with steep ups and downs and loose bricks, while the steep gravel trails can get very slippery.
The official website for the 2019 marathon hasn't been released, however the site from the past years can be found here: http://www.jslmarathon.com/index.php?c=index&a=index&sid=2
Previous participants highly recommended that you bring a pair of trekking poles for the marathon itself.
This trip travels on overnight hard sleeper trains on sections of the journey. Train travel in China may not be entirely luxurious, but it's certainly one of the best ways to come face-to-face with the country and its people. It's the main form of transport for locals, so take the chance to interact.
We pack a lot in, in a short amount of time, so if you have some time to spare we highly recommend extra time in Shanghai and Beijing.

Bring food supplies for before and during the run; especially if you are fussy or a novice traveller. The run is tough, and this way you won’t be caught short. Likewise coffee addicts should consider a secret stash for those days the espresso gods don’t smile.

The best part about this trip was our guide , William and the itenerary. However some of the accommodations were unacceptable and there is a lot o extras you have to pay making this trip almost double to what you paid. The Intepid stuff is not very accommodating. The customer service is non existent.
