Rub shoulders with the chic in the exciting city of Barcelona. Pulsing with culture, art and an outstanding drinking and dining scene, the city is also home to fascinating architecture; the star of which is Antoni Gaudi's basilica, La Sagrada Familia
Cobblestones are common in Portuguese cities and so in that case you may prefer to bring a backpack instead of rigid wheelie suitcase. It's also important not to exceed the luggage weight and size recommendations. You can find this information in the 'What to Take' section of the trip notes. It will make it easier when walking around metro or train stations with your bag. Sometimes lifts aren’t available and you would need to walk up and down some stairs carrying your luggage.
Summer temperatures can be extreme in many of the regions visited (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Please also note that not all hotels in Europe would have Air Conditioning system, but only fans. It may be uncomfortable for some in summer heat. Please carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
As accommodation on this trip is twin-share, single travellers will share a room with another traveller of the same sex. If you’d prefer not to share, a single room supplement is available at an additional charge. Please ask your travel consultant for more details. Also, hotels in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together and rooms in Europe can seem rather small by American or Australian standards.
In order for our local operator to be able to buy ferry tickets we need your passport details. Please advise these at least 6 weeks prior to the trip's departure. In addition, to secure Alhambra Palace entrance tickets we are required to provide authorities with full passport details of travellers (name as per passport, expiry date, date of birth, nationality). Without these we may not be able to secure Alhambra Palace entrance tickets for you.
A single supplement is available on this trip with no exceptions.

We have always enjoyed travelling with Intrepid. Small group tours are the way to go because you can engage well with all the fellow travellers, it is easy to do things together and it is acceptable to do things by yourself. I like that the trips are relativley low impact from an ecological perspective and go to interesting places.

Small group travel with like minded people. Travel light as there are lots of stairs to lift suitcases up and down. Wear solid supportive, non slip walking shoes as the cobble stones are everywhere
