This trip involves some long travel days. Simply sit back, relax, watch the scenery go by, and embrace travelling like a local.
Laos is less developed than many other South-East Asian countries. The roads can be bumpy, delays are common, and accommodation can be basic but always clean and comfortable. A little bit of patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment of this beautiful country!
One night is spent on the Mekong River in Pakbeng, a very remote and quiet town.
It can be quite cool from November to February, so make sure you have some warm gear packed for this period.
Due to dam construction upstream, water levels aren't as reliable as in previous years. When the Mekong River is at its lowest from February to April, part of the journey may occasionally need to be made by land.
A single supplement is available on this trip at time of booking please contact your sales agent if you would like to book a single supplement. The following days are excluded from the single supplement: Day 2 Overnight train and Day 6 Pakbeng
Our Thailand & Laos Adventure trips score an average of 4.71 out of 5 based on 333 reviews in the last year.
The trip was a good mix of activities, with many optional activities that allowed for both structured and independent exploration. The guides make the difference during the trip, they are so knowledgeable and open to frank discussions. It is obvious that they truly love their countries and want you to see it through their eyes and yet they are not blind to the fact that every country has its imperfections. I felt totally welcome and immersed in the countries I visited. Loa and Vietnam are the most welcoming and friendly, but Thailand and Cambodia were so inviting as well. The trip is fast paced and provides such a great overview of all four countries cultural differences, they are all so unique.
