As this is a Basix trip, there is plenty of free time built into the itinerary for you to enjoy as you wish in each destination. Please take into account spending money for optional sightseeing that isn't included in the trip cost when budgeting for your journey.
This trip involves some long bus and train rides, which can be tiresome but offer a quintessential Indian experience. You’ll be taking a few overnight trains, including a 19-hour trip from Delhi to Jaisalmer, a 12-hour trip from Agra to Varanasi and a 15-hour trip from Varanasi to Delhi.
Sleeper trains are clean and air-conditioned and a great way to travel long distances while still getting maximum time in each place. Beds are padded berths with sheets, pillow and blanket provided (although some people prefer to bring their own sleeping sheet). Please note that you may be sharing with locals of the same or opposite gender. For your own security, take a lock for your hand luggage.
We visit a number of temples on this trip, which requires a certain level of modesty. Please bring clothes that cover the arms and pants/skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.
Depending on the time of year, temperatures in northern India can get very hot and very cold. Please bring layers and a range of adequate clothing, including thermals and sun protection.
When camping in the Thar Desert, you’re truly in the middle of nature, so conditions are basic and there are no toilet facilities. Please bring water, face wipes, hand sanitizer and any other supplies you may need.

Loved the Northern India trip a country of amazing beauty and extreme poverty. We met some beautiful people who were helpful, friendly, generous and learned a lot about India from them. Basic trip basic accommodation. Didn't find the beggars and touts too much of a problem, loved the markets. The Emporiums more of an issue where one just wanted to browse and look, constantly badgered, simply didn't understand and lost possible sales.

North India Revealed is not like any other trip I have done. Its an assault on the senses - the noise, colour, people, animals everywhere and those tuk tuks. If you like comfort, relaxation and 5 star hotels this trip is not for you. We had an amazing, informative and exhausting 3 weeks experiencing India's traditions, religions, sights and a close look at how people live. Our guide Anuj was fantastic and I would thoroughly recommend this trip.
