During this trip, there will be several long days of travelling and you'll be sitting on a bus for many hours at a time. However, road trips often have the best views, and most private buses feature wi-fi.
Two nights of this trip are spent on overnight sleeper trains with journeys of up to 12 hours. Although the conditions are basic and you'll be sharing a compartment with four to six people, this is the best way to maximise your time spent at various destinations.
This trip involves a lot of walking - on city walking tours and during included activities. While being on your feet can be a bit tiring, this is the best way to truly get under the skin of a place.
You'll be spending two nights in a homestay with a Vietnamese family. While the accommodation is shared and basic, this is a great opportunity to connect with the local people (and enjoy delicious home-cooked meals!)

Thx for a great vacation. Excellent price quality balance and for me important the balance between free time and group is good.

The time spent on the overnight trains is actually about 8 hours each, and so the train journey is in complete darkness. Don’t expect to see views of the countryside from the trains. Had I known this I probably would have chosen the trips that fly instead. The overnight boat and farmstay are motel quality accommodation. The overnight trains and two home stays are extremely basic. The food is very authentic and you meet many real locals. This trip gives a really good picture of the country, including city life, country life, and mountain life.
