In the morning, we leave Amman for a short drive north (approximately 1 hour) to Jerash, where we’ll explore some of the greatest Greco-Roman ruins in existence. Reaching its zenith as a favourite of the emperor Hadrian, it has a striking collection of archways and theatres, baths, public buildings, and colonnaded streets, and is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon exploring.

Returning to Amman in the early evening, for a free evening – Optional Cooking class at Beit sitti.

Optional Activities

  • Cooking class followed by dinner at Beit Sitti - $61 USD per person

Now. We then to Kerak on our way to Petra. Prepare for the experience of a lifetime as we visit Petra by night, lit with candles.

Rest up this evening as we’ll have a full day exploring Petra tomorrow!

Today is the day that we will visit one of the 7 Wonders of the World! Petra (The Rose City) remained unknown to the western world until 1812. UNESCO has described it as 'one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage,' which should give you a hint of what you are in for. Spend the afternoon on a guided tour. You'll squeeze through a mile-long narrow path, known as the Siq, through huge towers of rock and get your first glimpse of the iconic Treasury, which amazingly was hand-carved out of rock.

Back at your hotel, there's time to freshen up before joining some local ladies for dinner in their home. This will be an informal evening, a chance to live like a local and learn the art of Arabic cooking in a home environment.

Included Activities

  • Petra - Guided tour of Petra

Included Meals

  • Breakfast, Dinner

Today we’ll drive to the rugged sandstone mountains of Wadi Rum. Discover the Rum the way the locals do – in jeeps operated by the local Bedouin community. Later, grab some lunch in the small village of Rum. Then it is off to see some of the most stunning desert scenery in the world. Great gouts of rock around Wadi Rum have been eroded by wind and ancient water into fantastical gnarled shapes. Meet your new Bedouin friends, the backbone of Jordan. Ride through sweeping swathes of desert, perhaps wondering how this place could be liveable – until you see a Bedouin camp, a group of dark tents low-pitched to the ground. In traditional Bedouin culture, a huge onus is placed on taking in and feeding any visitor, so a very warm welcome is assured.

In the evening you have the option to experience star gazing in this remote region.

Included Activities

  • Wadi Rum - 4WD jeep safari and desert camp

Included Meals

  • Breakfast, Dinner

Optional Activities

  • Petra second day visit (unguided) - $7 USD per person
  • Wadi Rum-Star gazing - $35 USD per person

Wadi Rum Dessert Camp or similar

Enjoy a spectacular sunrise at your desert camp. We will depart Wadi Rum mid-morning for the city of Aqaba, where we will stay at an amazing property along the Red Sea. After checking into your hotel your local guide will take you to explore the small Ottoman Mamluk Fort, dating from the 14th century and from where Lawrence of Arabia rode to Cairo, is worth a look – otherwise, most of the fun is to be found in the water. Acquaint yourself with the hotel's pool - if you are feeling adventurous, head out for a group scuba dive or snorkelling experience.

Included Meals

  • Breakfast

Optional Activities

  • Red Sea Snorkeling with Lunch - $40 USD per person
  • Red Sea Scuba from boat with Lunch - $155 USD per person

Are you ready to float? Today we head to the shores of the Dead Sea: the lowest point on Earth (420 metres below sea level). This isn’t actually a sea, but rather a very salty lake (dead because of the lack of life in it) where the density of the water means you’ll go for a float, not a swim. The mud here is said to have healing properties, so why not cover yourself from head to toe for a nutrient-rich natural mineral mud bath.

Included Meals

  • Breakfast

All good things must come to an end. Today we say our goodbye to our new friends and the wonderful country of Jordan.
