Some hotels in Egypt may not have lifts, so on occasion you may need to climb stairs with your luggage to reach your room.
The temperatures in Egypt can reach all extremes, from very hot to very cold (it even snows in some places). Be sure to bring a varied wardrobe so you can layer up.

An amazing country with such impressive iconic sites. We felt very safe at all times , and found the Egyptian people to be friendly and courteous. Take up all optional trips as they were all unique and worthwhile, ( eg Abu Simbel was exceptional even with a 4.30 am start !!). Also, give yourself more time in Cairo to explore other sites and savour the museum.

This is a great trip to introduce you to Egypt, to both it's ancient history and modern people. Egypt is absolutely safe and it's people are warm and welcoming, I lost count of the times I heard "Welcome to Egypt!" I suggest getting an airport transfer, Cairo traffic is insane! The hotel accommodations were better than what I was expecting for the price of the trip and each had it's own charm. I strongly recommend that you budget for the optional activities, they are absolutely worth it, especially if you are interested in Ancient Egypt. Abu Simbel and extra tombs in the Valley of the Kings are a must and don't miss the Nubian and Luxor museums. The food was very good as well, the local restaurants our leader took us to were really great and had plenty of selections (and cheap, the most expensive dinner I had was still under USD $10). Big breakfasts in Egypt aren't really a thing so if you need something extra I recommend getting some fruit at a local market to supplement it. The Nile felucca was great, it was nice to relax in sun as we drifted down the river, though bring a sleeping bag in the winter as it gets cold! Finally, our tour leader Walid was amazing and absolutely made a great trip even better, if you have him as your leader you will have a great time.
