Southeast Asia’s glittering waters and tropical landscapes are no secret, but this captivating corner of the world offers so much more than just beaches and jungle.
Forest-clad mountains, traditional villages, bustling cities and spread out archipelagos contain an unbelievably diverse array of cultures, religions and mouth-watering food. Carved up by coral-filled waterways containing some of the best dive and snorkelling spots in the world, Southeast Asia is arguably best explored by cruise. Drop anchor off palm-lined coasts to feast on local delicacies, hike through jungles to spot waterfalls, learn about village life from the locals or simply relax on a secluded beach. Whatever adventure you’re after, cruises in Asia have it all.

Highlights of Asia Cruises
Swim in Santonda Island's crater lake
Indonesia's Satonda Island gets its name from the dormant volcano, which has an extraordinary crater lake in its centre. Once you land at the beach, it's a short walk to the lake, where you can swim, paddleboard and kayak in the glassy waters. There's also an opportunity to stretch your legs and take a scenic hike for spectacular views looking down over the lake.
Visit the Semenggoh Orangutan Sanctuary
Borneo's government-funded Semenggoh Orangutan Sanctuary helps reintroduce these beautiful animals back into the wild after a life of domestication or having been orphaned. Head into the jungle and watch the orangutans as they swing into view, play and eat the supplementary diet of bananas and milk that is laid out for them twice a day by the rangers.
Snorkel in Pulau Tiga National Park
Borneo's Pulau Tiga National Park literally means 'three islands' and was created in the late 1890s thanks to a volcanic explosion. Nowadays, it's a relaxing place to enjoy swimming and snorkelling in clear waters. You’re sure to spot different varieties of tropical fish darting among colourful coral and you might even want to rejuvenate with a wallow in a volcanic mud pool.
See Komodo dragons on Rinca Island
There are only a handful of places in the world where Komodo dragons can be spotted in the wild, and all those places happen to be in Indonesia. While most head to Komodo Island for a chance to spot the world’s largest lizard, dragon-spotting is more natural and less staged on Rinca Island. Take a guided walk with a local ranger, who will introduce you to these prehistoric creatures.
Why choose Intrepid

Small ships, small groups
With fewer than 50 passengers on every adventure cruise, our groups are the perfect size for mingling at happy hour and really getting to know your fellow travellers. Smaller groups mean more personalised service, like one-on-one chats with your leader about history, culture and food, or your favourite ice-cold beer handed to you by the bar manager at the end of a day of exploring.

Specialised service
We’re right there with you to ensure your adventure is memorable for all the right reasons. Our expert local leaders facilitate incredible land experiences, while the ship’s friendly crew make sure you have everything you need – from a room that’s sparkling clean to a glass of sparkling wine – to enjoy your time on board.

Dining with a local twist
Whether it’s a barbecue on a deserted beach, the catch-of-the day cooked up by your onboard chef or the gourmet breakfast that’s served each morning, our culinary experiences are designed to complement your journey and help you create memories you’ll savour forever – on and off the boat.

Cruise the seas less travelled
Our small ships give you access to those out-of-the way spots the big ships can’t reach. We’ll show you the guidebook favourites from a new perspective, then cruise away from the crowds so you can stroll through seaside villages, swim in hidden coves and get a real insight into local living.

A floating boutique hotel
Our ships combine all the comforts and personality of a boutique hotel with the freedom of the open water. Relax in your well-appointed cabin and wake to a different outlook each morning. Enjoy panoramic views from the sun deck, spend time in comfortable lounges and spacious dining rooms, or dine al fresco underneath a sea of stars.

Sustainable travel
We strive to use travel as a force for good. That’s why we choose to give back to the communities we visit, carbon offset all our trips and take our social and environmental responsibilities seriously. We’ve been officially certified as the world’s largest travel B Corp, which means when you choose Intrepid Travel, you can rest assured you’re travelling to improve the planet.
