The overnight train from Hanoi to Hue takes around 12 hours. While conditions may not be to the standard you are used to, this is a great chance to see the country from another angle and wake up in a new, exciting destination.
Facilities at the Mekong Delta homestay are quite basic. But an authentic, heart-warming experience of local Mekong life should more than make up for the lack of creature comforts.
Confidence on a bicycle is great, but not absolutely essential. If you would rather not participate in the cycling tour of Hoi An's Tra Que Village, you can explore the local market on foot instead.
This trip involves a long day of driving from Phnom Penh to Battambang. Some patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment here. Sit back, relax, watch the scenery go by, and embrace travelling like a local.
The facilities at your homestay in Banteay Chhmar are simple – a thin mattress on the floor, with pillow provided and mosquito net provided. Bathroom facilities at homestay can be shared and often consist of an Asian style squat toilet. However, the rewards of such an authentic local experience are immeasurable.
