Food tours in Asia

This time, let your tastebuds do the exploring...

Asian food in all its sweet and sour glory continues to influence world cuisine. Ginger, cinnamon, pepper and turmeric were the stuff of legend in the 1600s, and sticky stir-fries, fragrant curries and juicy dumplings have all made their mark on today’s global palate. But nothing beats the real thing, fresh from the wok. Come with us on a food tour through the night markets of Thailand, the lucious Vietnamese Mekong Delta, and the beautiful teahouses of Japan. One tip? Pack stretchy pants.

Why choose us

Real, authentic experiences

We love the highlights, but for us the real magic is found off the tourist trails. Our trips combine iconic sites with hidden gems that you’ll only discover with Intrepid. We’re talking mornings exploring the Taj Mahal, followed by a Mughlai cooking class with a passionate home cook.

Local expertise

Whether you’re perusing markets, hunting down the best street food bites or learning how to cook centuries-old family recipes at a homestay, there’s no better way to get the inside scoop on a destination – and its culinary traditions – than with an expert local leader by your side.

Small groups

Big coaches and flag-toting tour guides don’t cut it for us. With a maximum group size of 12, our groups blend in with the locals and have plenty of opportunities to interact with chefs, street food vendors and group leaders. It also means you can really connect with your fellow foodies.

Fantastic experience, a great way to be see South Korea in ways you would not plan normally. There was a good amount of walking and stairs but never too much, the monastery stay was not my cup of tea personally and the morning meditation was not what I expected since it was no different to the evening session, still a great and unique experience nonetheless. If you get a chance to travel with Dennis you are in for a treat!

The wonderful in home cooking demonstrations were a real high light! I feel like my knowledge of Sri Lanka and it’s people has grown. And our guide, Loch was so amazing! Organised, caring and approachable- she was always thinking of how to make sure we had the best trip.

Discovering India has been on my bucket list for 30 years and I’m so glad I chose Intrepid Travel to tour with for a second time. Bring your appetite on this incredible journey! Our leader, Yadvendra Singh Rathore, otherwise known as Yaddu, was the epitome of the experienced, well organized, resourceful and cordial leader. He went above and beyond in ensuring all of our accommodations met the standards for comfort and serviceability and always put the best interests of our group first regarding safety, traveller preferences and our wellbeing. Reveling in the vibrant hues of Holi festival in Jaipur and savoring a meaningful lunch at a Sikh temple left an indelible mark on my journey, evoking powerful emotions that continue to resonate within me. To celebrate unity in diversity, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect regardless of caste, race, gender or religion felt like I belonged to this community even though my homeland was many thousands of kms away. If your ideal souvenir is a masala dabba Indian spice tin, a beautiful saree or a hand knotted carpet then don’t hesitate to book this tour. You will experience an unforgettable adventure that combines exploration of iconic landmarks and cultural immersion! Discover the richness of regional cuisines through tastebud-tingling experiences, all while fostering meaningful connections with the local community. And, last but not least, you’ll make foodie friends for a lifetime!!
