Delve into the diverse world of food that lies beneath Slovenia’s fairytale landscape, and find out why this country has more than 20 distinct culinary regions
Get to know some of the emerging heroes of the Eastern European wine scene – teran, refosk, grk, marastina, and kurtelaška bijela (and try to pronounce them after a few glasses)
This trip aims to give you an exciting, diverse and well-rounded experience of this region's cuisine. While we endeavour to cater for specific dietary requirements, some meals and food activities are set in advance and may be difficult to adjust. If you have dietary requirements, simply contact your agent at the time of booking for further information on how this may impact on your ability to take part in included activities and meals. Come with an open mind and open mouth, and you won’t be disappointed!
The Croatian coast is also very hilly and mountainous, so many steps are a feature of the landscape. You will have to be able to easily lift your luggage and carry it up and down stairs and inclines, so packing light is recommended. Also, stone streets become very slippery when wet. Some people may find Croatia's topography very demanding.
Summer temperatures can be extreme in many of the regions visited (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Please carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
As accommodation on this trip is twin share, single travellers will share a room with another traveller of the same sex. This trip is a great opportunity to get to know other like-minded people, so embrace it while you can. However, if you’d prefer not to share, a single room supplement is available at an additional charge.
A Single Supplement is available on this trip, please ask your booking agent for more information.
The price of the Single Supplement doesn't include the following nights where single rooms may not be available. If a single supplement room becomes available at check-in for these nights, there may be the option for you to upgrade to a single room and pay the surcharge locally for that night:
Day 6: Zadar
Due to a music festival, a single supplement is not available in Split for the nights of day 7 & 8 on the 30 June 2018 departure.
Our Slovenia & Croatia Real Food Adventure trips score an average of 4.43 out of 5 based on 7 reviews in the last year.
This trip covered all the highlights of Slovenia and Croatia with great food and wine along the way, with the best being Motovun, we feel privileged to have gone there and the truffle hunting and eating truffles with the experts was an exceptional experience with, worth doing this trip just for this.

The Real Food Tour - Slovenia & Croatia is a great culinary exploration. My experience with the small group of Intrepid travelers was enjoyable and added to the experience. People that started as complete strangers quickly became new friends sharing new experiences. This trip packs in several amazing sightseeing opportunities with lots of interactions with local enthusiasts. From group lunches in Piran with our local tour guide to a truffle hunt and truffle feast in Motovun to an afternoon of bocce ball in Pag. The experiences and the memories that will last forever will be deeply cherished as I re-visit the pictures for many years to come.
