The full six-kilometre Kings Canyon rim walk requires an early start. Take your time admiring the sandstone domes of the Lost City, the cliff top views along the North and South Walls and the beauty of the Garden of Eden – all while learning about the flora, fauna, history and culture of this area from your knowledgeable guide. Jump back in your private vehicle towards Uluru, passing Atila (Mt Conner) with its unique flat top and stopping for a break at Curtin Springs Station Roadhouse. Lunch is enjoyed en route. Afterwards, take in the magnificent red domes of Kata Tjuta as you enjoy a walk to Walpa Gorge. As the sun begins to disappear below the horizon, have your camera ready to capture the changing colours of Uluru. Head back to camp for a well-earned dinner, then settle in for the evening. The Anangu people have dissuaded visitors from climbing Uluru for decades – as traditional owners of the land they feel a deep responsibility for everyone who travels to the area. In 1998 we were among the first tour operators to stop climbing Uluru. Intrepid is proud to be involved with local communities in Uluru and to have an ongoing commitment to providing employment for the Anangu people. You show respect when you choose not to climb Uluru, but walk with Anangu throughout the area and share their stories instead.
