Intrepid has achieved over 100 points in its latest B Corp recertification, putting it alongside leading large B Corp brands globally. But what is a B Corp, exactly, and why should travellers be looking to book with a B Corp-certified travel company in 2025?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Certified B Corporations are companies that look after their staff, work toward a more inclusive supply chain and use their business to drive positive change. For us, becoming a B Corp<\/a> back in 2018 meant taking all the work we\u2019ve already done to make Intrepid a force for good \u2013 through both The Intrepid Foundation<\/a> and our trips \u2013 to the next level and conducting a regular extensive audit to ensure we meet the highest responsible business standards.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why travel with a B Corp? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

By booking your next adventure with a B Corp like Intrepid, you\u2019ll be setting yourself up for an experience that does a world of good. Here\u2019s why. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. You\u2019ll be joining a responsible travel movement <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We recognise that travel is contributing to climate change by generating emissions, and we seek to minimise the environmental impact of our adventures<\/a> by travelling on local transport and avoiding flights on our trips where possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To reduce emissions, we\u2019ve eliminated short-haul flights where possible. As a result, in 2025 76 per cent of our top 100 best-selling trips based on passenger volume are flight-free. This not only lowers emissions but also makes for an immersive, slow-travel experience that allows you to truly appreciate the landscape you\u2019re travelling through. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Your next adventure will give back to the communities you visit <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

B Corps need to balance returns for shareholders with benefits for all stakeholders. For a travel B Corp like Intrepid, those stakeholders include local communities on the ground. We design our trips to positively impact the communities hosting us, whether it\u2019s through using local transport, leaders and guides, or by connecting with local organisations doing good in the community<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also work with our philanthropic arm, The Intrepid Foundation<\/a>, to raise money for over 50 carefully selected partners across the world in the destinations we visit. Since 2002, The Intrepid Foundation has raised more than AU $17.37 million for over 160 partners, with Intrepid absorbing all administration costs so that 100 per cent of donations can go straight to those in need. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. You\u2019ll be empowering women  <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, gender inequality<\/a> remains an issue worldwide. But the good news is that B Corps are more likely to work towards a solution, by performing pay equity analyses based on demographic factors including gender, implementing equal compensation plans or policies and working with suppliers owned by underrepresented populations.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To achieve our latest high certification score<\/a>, we\u2019ve increased the diversity of our supply chain. By prioritising women-owned businesses, we not only support gender equality but also contribute to the economic empowerment of women in the communities that we visit. We\u2019ve also created fairer employment opportunities across our global business and are working to ensure all workers receive a living wage aligned with the Wage Indicator Benchmark<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women are pushing for change in the travel industry, and we\u2019re working hard to create new opportunities for female leaders, guides and porters on our trips. We\u2019ve increased the number of female leaders by nine per cent since 2021, bucking the trend in many destinations including Nepal<\/a>, India and Morocco<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. You\u2019ll be helping to champion positive change   <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Becoming a B Corp requires a company to commit to high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability, as well as continuous improvement. For our latest recertification, we\u2019ve continued to develop the way we measure the environmental and social impact of our supply chain. This drives more sustainable choices, such as working with local producers to make\u202fthe reusable Intrepid tote bags<\/a> you might get on a trip and using more electric vehicles for transfers.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve also added carbon labels to our trips, which show travellers the emissions of most trips to help you understand your carbon footprint and make more informed travel decisions.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
