I traveled there on Intrepid Travel&#8217;s 16-day <strong>Experience Madagascar<\/strong> trip earlier this year, and found many reasons why people should visit this entrancing island.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_23889\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"\/madagascar\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23889\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23889\" src=\"https:\/\/www.intrepidtravel.com\/adventures\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/rsz_baobab_trees-e1512086695174.jpg\" alt=\"Madagascar travel Baobab trees\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-23889\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Baobab trees<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Here are 8 of them:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>You\u2019ll <\/strong><strong>find landscapes unlike anywhere else on earth<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Madagascar boasts mind-blowing landscapes that vary across the country. From lush rainforests and arid plains to pristine beaches and sweeping canyons and gorges, you\u2019ll be in awe of the country\u2019s distinct beauty everywhere you look.<\/p>\n<p>When in Isalo National Park with my group, I trekked through each of these landscapes until discovering two secret waterfalls deep within a rainforest-coated gorge.<\/p>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23878\" src=\"https:\/\/www.intrepidtravel.com\/adventures\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Landscapes-2-e1512083634186.jpg\" alt=\"Madagascar travel\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><strong>Madagascar is an extremely budget-friendly destination (once you\u2019re there)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Though getting to the country is expensive, once you are there, everything is incredibly cheap. Your money goes a long, long way in Madagascar. Most of your meals won\u2019t cost more than $4 USD \u2014 and it\u2019s even less outside of the tourist areas.<\/p>\n<p>I had a full meal of rice, beans, pork, and vegetables for less than $2 USD at a little restaurant near Ramonafana. Don\u2019t miss the markets locals go to either \u2014 I was able to find delicious spring rolls for just 3 cents each!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_23877\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23877\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23877\" src=\"https:\/\/www.intrepidtravel.com\/adventures\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Budget-Friendly-Madagascar-e1512083603619.jpg\" alt=\"Madagascar travel\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-23877\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Budget-friendly eats<\/p><\/div>\n<h2><strong>The wildlife in Madagascar is unique to the country<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Because of its geographic isolation, approximately 90% or more of the species found on Madagascar are endemic to the country, meaning you won\u2019t find them anywhere else on the planet. With the help of my local guide, I saw hundreds of birds, lemurs, insects, chameleons, and mammals that I will probably never see again!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"\/madagascar\"><strong>CHECK OUT THE TRIP THAT NOMADIC MATT VENTURED TO MADAGASCAR ON!<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The beaches are pristine<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>With 5,000 km (3,100 miles) of coastline and very few tourists, Madagascar is home to some of the world\u2019s most beautiful beaches.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23888\" src=\"https:\/\/www.intrepidtravel.com\/adventures\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Pristine-Beaches-3-e1512084719547.jpg\" alt=\"Madagascar travel\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/>Don\u2019t miss \u00cele Sainte Marie, a cool island off the eastern coast full of little coves, white sand beaches, delicious seafood, and a laid-back, Caribbean-like atmosphere. Being within inches of lemurs hanging out in trees, having one land on my head, and listening to them howl are experiences I\u2019ll never forget.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>There\u2019s a ton of exceptional national parks<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>From hiking and trekking through canyons to swimming under waterfalls to gazing at lemurs in rainforests, Madagascar\u2019s national parks will cater to any nature fanatic\u2019s wildest dreams.
