It was an amalgamation of tank rides and whiskey, sports and gambling, strip joints, fast cars and tough activities in wild locations. And it\u00a0made me feel a bit disappointed.<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OAzI0AlYVMA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s nothing wrong with men enjoying sports and beer, just as there\u2019s nothing wrong with women enjoying luxury day spas. But for anyone looking for more from an\u00a0&#8216;ultimate trip&#8217;, here&#8217;s what I&#8217;m thinking:<\/p>\n<h3>My ultimate &#8216;girls&#8217; \u00a0trip&#8230;<\/h3>\n<p>I want to smoke cigars in Cuba. I want to sit in a field with a tobacco farmer in Vinales, watch his weathered hands rolling the leaves. I want to\u00a0learn about a craft that\u2019s shaped this country\u2019s identity.<\/p>\n<p>I want to hike, ankle deep in mud, through Colombia\u2019s Cocora National Park. See the tallest palms on earth, swim in rocky creeks, drink tea with flighty hummingbirds.<\/p>\n<p>I want to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intrepidtravel.com\/trips\/BMSI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chase waterfalls<\/a> in Iceland. Ride horses across barren fields and trek on ash-laden glaciers. Eat ice with an axe and gaze down those dangerous, beautiful, iridescent crevices.<\/p>\n<p>I want to drink raki with Turkey\u2019s finest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intrepidtravel.com\/trips\/ERKT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">by the water in Kas<\/a>. Talk about politics and religion and history in a country on the edge of revolution. I want to hear the passion in my guide&#8217;s\u00a0voice as night descends around us.<\/p>\n<p>I want to sleep in a swag under the stars in the\u00a0Australian outback. Dance with scorpions and snakes. Get rained on. I want to drink cheap beer in the scorching sun and learn how to find bush tucker with the land&#8217;s\u00a0traditional owners.<\/p>\n<p>I want to swim in icy pools above petrified falls in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intrepidtravel.com\/trips\/QVRM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">middle of rural Mexico<\/a>. I want to shiver and look out over\u00a0infinity.<\/p>\n<p>I want to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intrepidtravel.com\/trips\/XMSQC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sprawl in the desert<\/a> with Moroccan friends and break the day\u2019s Ramadan fast with camel milk and mint tea. Feel the heady rush of sugar as the sun sets over those endless\u00a0dunes.<\/p>\n<p>I want to eat a smoked meat sandwich the size of my face in Montreal\u2019s oldest deli. With extra pickles please (and no, I don\u2019t want to share).<\/p>\n<p>These are a few of the heart-shifting adventures I\u2019ve experienced in the past two years. My Ultimate Girl&#8217;s Trip. I feel incredibly lucky, but\u00a0my appetite for adventure just keeps growing. I want to trek in Patagonia, drink whisky in Japan, drive across the \u2018Stans.\u00a0I want to see the world. Get dirty.<\/p>\n<p>Our experiences shouldn&#8217;t\u00a0be limited by women\u2019s magazines or\u00a0testosterone-fuelled listicals. I don\u2019t care how \u2018bikini-ready\u2019 my body is and I personally don\u2019t want to spend precious lunch dollars on a hotel pedicure. Just like most of my male friends probably don\u2019t want to drive tanks and gamble.<\/p>\n<p>In the words of Hunter S Thompson, \u2018Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming &#8220;Wow!
