It’s been 12 months since a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, flattening houses and causing chaos on the slopes of Everest, and the country has spent the last year rebuilding. Not just bricks and mortar, but confidence too. Along with erecting more modern, quake-proof structures in Kathmandu and surrounding villages, the country has been rebuilding it’s tourism industry and encouraging trekkers to come back.
The good news is, it’s working. The number of travellers in Kathmandu ahead of the new season are encouraging, and people are starting to hit the slopes again. Why? Because Nepal is still one of the most beautiful places on the planet. And we’ve got the Instagram shots to prove it. We trawled the net and found the photos travellers are taking right now, right this minute, one year after the quake. If you’re tossing up a Nepal trek this year, let these decide it for you.
