Itinerary

Kick off this adventure in Hue, a treasure trove of temples, tombs and palaces from Vietnam's royal past. Glimpse of everyday Vietnamese life, taste traditional foods and meet local vendors on a tour of dynamic Dong Ba market. Explore the Imperial City within the imposing Citadel - many of Hue’s best sights are contained here, including the Forbidden Purple City. Stop for lunch in a nunnery and discuss the finer points of Buddhism with nuns. Pass lush rice paddies and traditional villages on a bus ride through picturesque countryside. Admire the seven tiers of Bao Quoc Pagoda, a sprawling temple complex that sits atop a hill overlooking the Perfume River, then unwind with a cruise along the magical river itself.
Weave through quaint towns en route to Quang Dien, a peaceful village renowned for its stunning architecture, sublime surrounds and friendly locals. Jump on a bike and cycle through the town. Drop in at the village school, and head to a vegetable field to meet a local farmer and learn about the sustainable farming practices so crucial to the community. Work up an appetite by helping out with farm tasks, before sharing a traditional lunch of seafood and vegetables with a local family. Fully fuelled, it’s time to hit the water with a sampan cruise on Tam Giang Lagoon. Help fishermen haul up their catch, get a lesson in how to throw a fish net, and try your luck in the lagoon. After an activity-packed morning, relax on the white sands of Quang Dien Wild beach or invigorate the senses with a dip its clear waters. Alternatively head inland to the hot springs near Thuan An beach.
Traverse scenic Hai Van Pass – a 21 km stretch of road that winds through spectacular mountains and buts up against the sparkling South China Sea – to reach Hoi An. Explore the ancient streets and buildings of World Heritage-listed Old Town before uncovering Vietnamese culinary secrets during a cooking class at a family-run restaurant. Hit the local market to stock up on fresh produce and cook up a storm back at the restaurant. End the day by feasting on the delicious creations.
Take to the streets and waterways on a unique boat and bike tour. Pass emerald rice paddies, snaking waterways and plenty of waving children while discovering some of the most beautiful landscapes in this region. On a small island in the middle of the Thu Bon River, settle in to watch the sun set over bobbing fishing boats while feasting on barbecued local specialities. With full bellies, return to Hoi An where this Vietnam Getaway ends.
