Day 1 Hanoi / Mai Chau

Feel cares melt away as the last of the whirring traffic and city sounds fade and the serene nature of Vietnam’s countryside envelops you. Startling green mountainsides, cascading patchwork rice paddies and picturesque houses and villages greet us at Mai Chau. Enjoy a delicious, traditional lunch with a local family and learn about the culture, customs and lifestyle of the people living in this region of Vietnam. After lunch, cycle through this breathtaking landscape visiting villages, riding past rice paddies and stopping to meet locals as they work in the fields or wander the paths. Return to the homestay in time to watch the sun sink behind the mountain, and perhaps help prepare the night’s meal or relax with a drink and wile away the hours.

Day 2 Mai Chau Trekking / Hanoi

After a scrumptious breakfast, strap on the walking shoes and take to the hills on a trek along the traditional paths of the area. Visit villages of the White Thai people, exchanging smiles and learning about their everyday lives and customs. The scenery of this area is stunning so have cameras at the ready and, as there is no rush, there is plenty of opportunity to stop and simply take in the wonder of this special part of Vietnam. Return to the homestay for lunch, then it’s time to say farewell to our hosts and gorgeous Mau Chau and return to the vibrant streets of Hanoi.
