The tropical climate of Central America means conditions can be really hot and humid. Always carry plenty of water with you and stay hydrated, especially on walking tours.
Try to learn as many Spanish words as you can. Locals are very friendly, but also shy, so you'll need to make plenty of effort to break the ice. Attempting to communicate in Spanish is a great way of showing you care.

This is a very fun nature- and water-based tour with a nice mix of busy days and chill time. Like other reviewers, I would recommend spending a couple of days in the charming and relaxing town of Antigua before the tour starts. Keep in mind that there are almost no inclusions and things are not as cheap as you might expect, so you will be spending money. Of the optional activities, I highly recommend the hot springs waterfall, full day snorkel trip, and ATM cave. I also loved Tikal and the Rio Dulce trip. Eat some street food!
