Explore California’s much-loved city by the bay. Take in San Francisco’s famous landmarks, including Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, on a city tour. Ensure those camera batteries are fully charged and head east to Yosemite National Park.

Spend the next few days enjoying Yosemite’s jaw-dropping wild beauty. Set in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, no one can fail to be entranced by the astonishing setting. Set off on two wheels to explore the forests, rivers and lakes. Follow paths in search of majestic waterfalls and the almighty granite walls that make it a rock-climbers’ paradise.

Next stop is the wonderful landscape of spires and strange orange and red rocks known as ‘hoodoos’. Best explored on the Navajo Loop trail, trek amongst these unusual natural formations before camping amidst Bryce Canyon’s surreal landscape.

Relax after the excitement of the last few days. Splash around in this lakeside haven between Utah and Arizona and enjoys its sandy beaches and exceptional scenery. If the kids are restless, why not take advantage of some of the water sports available, such as waterskiing and wakeboarding.

Get an insight into the Native American culture in this land considered sacred to the Navajo people. Explore the classic cowboy country of Monument Valley, the setting for numerous ‘westerns’, and camp in this magical and iconic natural wonder.

Saving the best until last, take in the splendour of one of this site considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Hike along the rim to enjoy breathtaking views of this almighty gorge.
