Escape the closed-in chaos of Manhattan and head to the wider spaces of the nation's capital - the stately Washington DC. After setting up camp, embark on a night tour of the Washington Monument before enjoying free time to explore this iconic city.

Follow in the footsteps of Daniel Boone and blaze a trail into the Appalachian Mountains, stopping to stretch the legs on a few light hikes before spending the night at a scenic campsite.

Y’all ready? It’s time to hoe-down in Nashville, the country music mecca of the USA. Squeeze in some time to see Elvis’s golden Cadillac or take a stroll down to the Music Row Area and pick up a few records.

Swap the cowboy hat and harmonica for air guitars and dark sunglasses - it’s time to head to Memphis, the home of the Blues. If the soothing sounds of this soulful town don’t float your boat, perhaps the National Civil Rights Museum might be a worthwhile alternative.

Head south to Louisiana and get acquainted with a place they call ‘The Big Easy’. Not a town to get too down on itself, see how the citizens of New Orleans have rebuilt their lakeside city with the famous Bourbon St spirit still well and truly intact.

Go in search of sunshine and some more good times in Florida, America’s vacation capital. Spend a few lazy days camping in close proximity to Panama City Beach, catching some rays on the white sands or splashing about in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Admire the moss-draped cypress trees that surround verdant Manatee Springs. There are plenty of opportunities for optional activities here, so be sure to take advantage of the canoeing, biking or hiking adventures on offer.

Indulge your inner child in Orlando, home of Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios. Or take advantage of adulthood by sampling the diverse nightlife on offer in this quirky city. For space buffs, no visit to Florida would be complete without blasting off to Cape Canaveral, so be sure to make time for an out-of-this-world excursion.

After checking out the lagoons and waterways of Ft Lauderdale, hit the Art Deco decadence of South Beach. An up-and-comer in the USA’s arts scene, Miami may be getting a little more sophisticated in its old age, but it still knows how to party with the best of them.
