Arrive in the United States early and discover beaches, palm-lined boulevards, skyscrapers and stardust in the sprawling county of Los Angeles.

Travel across the arid desert of Southern California and head to Joshua Tree National Park. Take time to explore portions of this vast, eerie landscape that has mystified visitors for years - most notably U2, who named their 1987 album after the Joshua Tree park's resident yuccas. Cross the Colorado River and spend the night in Laughlin, Nevada.

Road trip into Arizona towards one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. Inspiring, breathtaking, magnificent - see the Grand Canyon from every angle. Walk along the canyon's rim and peer 1,600 m below or take an optional scenic helicopter flight. For those feeling adventurous, why not hike into the Grand Canyon's interior.

Hit Route 66 and head towards Las Vegas, Nevada - aka 'Sin City' - the entertainment capital of the USA. Strut down the iconic Vegas strip on a sightseeing tour, experience the glitz and glamour of a stage show, have a flutter on the gaming tables or pull up a seat at one of the famous all-you-can-eat buffets.

Despite being one of the driest and hottest valleys on the planet, Death Valley is a fascinating place to visit. See epic sand dunes, volcanic craters and bizarre, sculpted rocks as well as flora and fauna that have adopted unique methods of survival under the harsh Californian sun. Be sure to have cameras ready as there is a wealth of photo opportunities to be had in Death Valley.

From its cascading waterfalls to its gemstone lakes, Yosemite National Park will truly impress with jaw-dropping beauty evident at every turn. Perhaps enjoy a hike to one of the lower Nevada Falls or maybe an easier stroll to picturesque Mirror Lake. Take time to soak in the sights, smells and sounds of this unforgettable setting.

Leave Yosemite behind and head west to San Francisco where this California Discovery tour comes to an end.
