Days 1-2 Kyiv

Wander the leafy streets of Kyiv, the 'Mother of Slavic Cities' and Ukraine's stunning capital. Visit the Chernobyl Museum to pay respects to those who perished due to the 1986 nuclear disaster. Learn about what went wrong and gain a better understanding of this tragedy. During free time, perhaps see mummified monks at the Caves Monastery, investigate the Museum of One Street or listen to the dulcet sounds of a classical music performance.

Day 3-5 Black Sea/Odessa

Head to the city of Odessa on the shore of the Black Sea. Get acquainted with this lively boomtown on an orientation walk, then perhaps head to Primorsky Boulevard for Ukraine's best examples of classic architecture and a fantastic view of the port. Follow an eco route through the captivating Nizhnednestrovsky National Park and stop to eat lunch while listening to the sounds of the woods.

Days 6-7 Carpathian Mountains

Travel to Kolomiya and take in the ethereal beauty of the Carpathian Mountains - this magical setting has inspired many fiction novels over the years. Hike through mesmerising scenery, picnic on the high pastures and appreciate the colourful decorations of Hutsul houses. Uncover the secrets of traditional Ukrainian delicacies during a cooking class and, in free time, perhaps find out about local cultures and traditions at the Hutsul Museum, or be delighted by the bounty of brightly painted Easter eggs at the Pysanka Museum.

Days 8-9 Lviv

Head for Lviv, a unique Ukrainian city packed with history, charisma and lovely architecture. Visit the Opera House, the Jewish Quarter and Rynok Square on a walking tour of the Old Town, refuelling on delicious coffee and cake in a Viennese-style cafe. Perhaps squeeze in a march to High Castle Hill for spellbinding views of city before saying prosh-chavay to the Ukraine.
