We recommend the Sri Lanka Independent Tour (2 of us) with driver/guide for people who like us who have only ever travelled on their own on previous overseas holidays. Sri Lanka is the perfect country for this type of holiday. On previous holidays we have been quite happy to drive ourselves around in Europe and North America but we definitely recommend having a driver/guide for Sri Lanka. As they say in Sri Lanka. When driving no. 1 priority - good horn, no.2 - good brakes and no.3 - good luck. Thanks go to our Guide/driver Prasad who made us feel 100% safe and secure at all times and imparted a wonderful wealth of local knowledge with good humour. The Sri Lankan food is so tasty and good and Sri Lankan people lovely and friendly. What a great experience that we will talk about for years. Can't wait for the next adventure. Regards Chris and Jane, Tasmania

Nile Valley Highlights - Independent Journey , March 2015
Intrepid is a great experience because of the small groups. You can always hear the stories at the historical sites from the tour leader. Every time I saw those large groups of 40 people trying to keep up and get close to their tour leaders in the various temples, I am thankful we booked Intrepid with our small group.

Sri Lanka is an incredible destination. Visit soon as there is some dreadful over development happening especially in the 'beach resort areas'. Do your historical homework before you go- there are an incredible number of ancient archeological sites in the 'cultural triangle' and the European colonisations have all left their mark. You need to be aware of the recent political situation as well to really appreciate this very special destination. It's also incredibly HOT and humid even in the 'dry' season.
