You are free for the remainder of the day to explore charming Chiang Mai or just laze by the pool. Chiang Mai is the second largest city in Thailand and has become the modern and cosmopolitan capital of the north. The friendliness of the people, the vibrant Night Bazaar, the interesting old town bounded by moats and the many fascinating temples enthral travellers from around the world. Chiang Mai is small enough to get around by bicycle and this is a great way to experience the city's vibrant atmosphere.
Set off to explore the famous temple complex of Doi Suthep. Pick up time is between 8.30-9am. A short drive from our hotel (approx 45 minutes) along a scenic and winding mountain road lies the impressive 300-step Naga stairway. The rewards justify the ascent to the top, with one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand on display, not to mention the fantastic panoramic views of the city! We return to our hotel at approx 11am.

At about 1.30pm we have a safety briefing and bicycle fitting, before heading out into the streets of Chiang Mai. We journey south, following the Ping River downstream. The bicycle ride is pleasant and green due to the proximity of the river. A visit to a former leper colony, now a rehabilitation centre, gives some insight into the activities of the missionaries in days gone by. Cycling over small country roads you will discover the real rural Thailand. We cycle past various fruit orchards and encounter the Thai way of life as we meander around the villages on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. We explore the temple ruins of Wiang Kum Kam, the former capital of Lanna, before cycling back to Chiang Mai.

The biking distance is around 25-30km of flat ground with 1.5km unsealed road (approx 4 ½ hours with frequent stops). We provide helmet and comfort bicycles (adapted mountain bike), with 24 gears and front suspension.
You are picked up from the hotel after breakfast between 8.00-8.30am We drive up north to Mae Tang area where your adventure begins. Mountain biking through scenic landscape and local roads approximately 8 kilometers to the starting point of the trek to waterfall. Then hike to Huay Sathan Waterfall, where we can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. (1.30 -2 hours). After finishing the trekking loop, we will drive up to the river camp.

In the afternoon prepare for a thrilling whitewater rafting session. Our staff will help outfit you with helmets and life jackets. There will also be a safety brief to get you acquainted with the paddling commands, the correct way to sit in the raft, and the necessary precautions on river safety. Awaiting you are the rapid Mae Taeng River and its 14 gorges along a 10km stretch. The difficulty level on Mae Taeng River ranges from grade 3 to 5. It has been praised by tourists as some of the best whitewater rafting in Asia. The rafting trip takes approximately 2 hours and finishes at our downstream camp where you can rest and change into dry clothes. Enjoy some hot and cold drinks or fresh fruits before the transfer back to your hotel in Chiang Mai.
