What is 'Original' style travel?
Our Original trips are the classic real life adventures upon which Intrepid’s small group adventures were founded. While accommodation is primarily hotel based, you could still find yourself camping or the privileged guest of a local family.
Depending on the destination and itinerary, you’ll likely be travelling in a combination of public and private transport. And while there is a range of activities included, optional ones will cost extra. From time to time the meals will be on us.
Other travel styles include Basix and Comfort.
The passion of our local leaders for showing you their home country is what makes Intrepid’s trips so special. No matter the trip you’re on, you’ll have a leader who’s well versed in all things local and who’ll be there for your every step of the way, sharing their tips and secret haunts that only locals know about.
Snuggle in for a snooze with a difference during a yurt stay in the Kyrgyzstani countryside. Breakfast provided, blankets supplied, amenities… outside.
Permanent tents, Australia
Enjoy nights under canvas in the Aussie Outback – minus the hassles of battling tent poles and hammering in pegs – in our permanently sited, hard-floor campsites.
Boutique hotel, Peru
Prepare for an excursion into the Sacred Valley at Hotel Warari: a full-service lodging situated in Cuzco’s historic centre.
We use a range of transport options on our Original-style trips: private, local, water-based, road-bound and air-borne. Here’s a few of the more interesting modes you may find yourself travelling on:
Plug in the earphones, push back the seat and watch Canada’s glorious wilderness roll past from the vantage point of a bus’s big window.
From tuk-tuks to songthaews to sammlaws, it’s anything goes in Thailand. If it beeps, bleeps and blares, it’s all part of the fun.
Some boots are made for walking – and some regions are too. When it comes to the French and Swiss Alps, the original mode of movement is still the best.
