Why you'll love this trip
  • Temple hop through the Angkor complex and surrounding jungle by bike – two wheels allow you to discover this incredible UNESCO World Heritage site from unique perspectives.
  • Paddle through the spectacular flooded forests of Stung Treng by kayak and try to spot the rare Irrawaddy dolphins from the water on a boat excursion along parts of the Mekong River.
  • Take to a mountain bike and cycle through quiet roads, orchards and rice paddies on an island within the Mekong Delta.
  • Cycle off the main streets and into the heart of Phnom Penh with a guided backstreets bike tour – weaving through small villages and rice paddies to see local life firsthand.
  • Discover traditional Khmer villages and their dedication to reforestation on the island of Koh Trong and swing the day away in a hammock at your rural homestay, getting to know the locals over a homecooked dinner.

Is this trip right for you?
  • This is an active and varied tour with a number of activities to get your pulse going. While specific prior training isn't necessary, some travellers have found parts of the itinerary quite challenging and a reasonably high level of fitness is needed to get the best out of the experience.
  • You'll be spending a night with a local family on this trip. While the accommodation is shared and basic, this is a great opportunity to connect with the local people (and enjoy delicious home-cooked meals!). Read more about the experience here: https://www.intrepidtravel.com/adventures/cambodia-homestay-experience
  • This trip involves some long days of driving, so some patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment here.
  • At times our accommodation may not have continuous hot water. Most travellers don’t find this a problem and are often keen to cool down from the heat with a refreshing cold shower!
  • Cambodia can get very hot, so days cycling, or even temple hopping can take it out of you quickly. We recommend packing adequate clothing, sun protection, and that you always have lots of water with you
  • Part of travelling with Intrepid means respecting local cultures and sensibilities. That way you get the most out of your interactions with local people and environments. You will visit a number of temples on this trip, and this requires a level of modesty. Be sure to bring clothes that cover the arms and pants or skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.

This trip was better than advertised on all accounts. The stunning sights, hiking, biking and kayaking were beyond my expectations, the group size was perfect and the trip was expertly managed. But the real difference maker was our guide Pheap Chhoerum. He was gracious in answering a million questions from the group, was knowledgeable on the history and local events of the areas we visited, shared insight into daily life and went above and beyond even on the longest travel days to make sure we were comfortable, well fed with local snacks, had fun and were entertained (he’s a talented singer!) Book this trip and don’t worry about being an expert cyclist, hiker or kayaker. You’ll be well looked after and have the trip of a lifetime!!

This was a trip of a lifetime. The most amazing week. I feel like a new person in such a short time. Everything is done for you so you can emerge yourself fully into the activities and culture and knowledge that is available leaving everything else to the amazing tour guide. A perfect balance of activities and experience. Already planning our next adventure with intrepid. Thank you Preap.

The trip was better than advertised on every level. Every detail was executed seamlessly. Pheap was a spectacular guide. He went above and beyond without hesitation to make sure we were cared for, had an amazing adventure and because of his gracious sharing of information , we learned so much along the way. The group size ( 12) was perfect and added to the fun.

I have found this trip to be life changing, our guide Pheap made our trip so memorable and such great fun, making new friends from All over the world, the best day for me was trekking in the jungle and kyaking down the Mekong River then singing in the bus on the way home, I’ll never forget that special day, Pheap went above and beyond to make our trip so special, my friend and her family after seeing my incredible journey have now booked their own one with intrepid, It was the best thing I have ever done! I can’t wait for the next one! Thank you Intrepid x

Do it! You won’t regret it. Great combination of activities and sightseeing, including to parts of Cambodia few see. You don’t need to be a triathlete to do the activities - anyone in good health, able to ride a bike /paddle a kayak, and a sense of adventure should be able to do. We also had the benefit of an outstanding guide - Bo (Borith Rin) – who greatly impressed our group with his support, knowledge, and sense of humour, among many other skills.
