Days 1-2 Istanbul

Begin this Istanbul to Amman adventure in one of the world's most mysterious cities. Arrive early to haggle for bargains at the Grand Bazaar or soak up the atmosphere in Istanbul's many ornate palaces and mosques.

Day 3 Pamukkale/Selcuk

Arrive in Denizli and spend time exploring the cascading, calcium terraces of Pamukkale, which have been famed for their medicinal qualities since Roman times.

Day 4 Selcuk

Explore the incredible ruins of Ephesus, once a trading powerhouse and now Turkey's best-preserved ancient city. Afterwards, taste local wine in Sirince, a village seemingly unchanged by time.

Days 5-6 Antalya

Discover vibrant Antalya, a great place to relax and rejuvenate. Wander its palm-lined boulevard, linger in a hip cafe or kick back in a picturesque park.

Days 7-9 Goreme

Travel to Cappadocia, a dramatic landscape where fertile soils nurture orchards and vineyards. Visit fascinating underground cities and cave churches, hike through dramatic gorges or perhaps hire a bike and head off to explore local artisan villages outside Goreme.

Day 10 Nemrut Dagi

Follow steep and winding roads to Nemrut Dagi and use free time to visit the colossal stone heads and soak up the stunning mountain vistas.

Day 11 Sanliurfa/Homestay

Visit the magical city of Sanliurfa, which possesses an interesting blend of Turkish, Kurdish and Arabic influences. Stay in a local home and enjoy a delicious, spicy feast.

Days 12-13 Aleppo

Cross the border where it's time to discover Syria. Head to ancient Aleppo and be sure to check out the city's famous covered souq, the medieval Citadel and the historic houses in the Christian quarter. In free time, perhaps take a day tour of the Dead Cities, a group of Byzantine settlement ruins outside Aleppo.

Day 14 Hama

Attractive Hama is a peaceful spot in which to relax. Kick back with locals in an open-air coffee house, covet ancient treasures housed in the Hama Museum or sit by the banks of the river and soak up the serenity.

Day 15 Palmyra

Discover the ruins of Palmyra, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the world.

Days 16-17 Damascus

Delight in the intriguing city of Damascus, Syria's glamorous capital, which is a maze of ancient alleyways, lively bazaars and gorgeous architecture that was contributed to by the Persians, Greeks, Romans and Arabs.

Day 18 Amman

Travel to Jordan's modern capital where this grand adventure through antiquity comes to an end. There is a plethora of rich cultural and scenic places to visit in Amman, including the Archaeological Museum - where the Dead Sea Scrolls are housed - so if time permits, an extra few days here will be thoroughly enjoyed.
