Anzac Overland Summary

Add to Shortlist

Day 1 Istanbul

Travel to Turkey where this Anzac adventure begins. Enjoy a walking tour of the world's only bi-continental city, Istanbul. Crammed with elaborate mosques, stunning palaces and soaring minarets, Istanbul offers many sightseeing treats, including Topkapi Palace and Harem, the iconic Blue Mosque and historic St Sofia church. When feeling peckish, perhaps sample some of Turkey's delicious street food, such as midye dolma (filled mussels) and kofte, from Istanbul street vendors.

Days 3-4 Eceabat/Gallipoli Peninsula/Anzac Service

Travel to Eceabat, a traditional fishing village that is situated close to the Gallipoli battlefields. Reflect on the Anzac legend during a guided tour of the Gallipoli Peninsula, which includes sites such as Anzac Cove, Lone Pine and North Beach. Pay respects to the Anzacs of WW1 and troops from subsequent wars at the moving Dawn Service.

Day 5 Pamukkale

Get a close-up look at one of the most legendary sites in Greek mythology – the ancient city of Troy. Don’t miss a great photo opportunity with a replica of the Trojan horse at the entrance to the ruins. Head to another seat of power in the ancient world, Pergamum, and explore its famed Asclepion (healing centre) and Acropolis before making tracks to Pamukkale.

Days 6-7 Selcuk

Enjoy a guided tour through the impressive ancient ruins of Ephesus. Imagine what life was like centuries ago while viewing the crumbling remains of theatres, stadiums, avenues and temples.

Days 8-9 Oludeniz

Travel to the Mediterranean coast where hiking, swimming and scuba diving are all great ways to experience the pristine natural beauty of this charming region of Turkey.

Day 10 Termessos
