Day 1 Bangkok
Grab a tuk-tuk and get out there. With so much to see and do in this electrifying city, it's worth arriving a couple of days early.
Days 2-3 Kanchanaburi/ River Kwai
Spend a memorable day in this infamous area where thousands died building the Death Railway. For a change of atmosphere, head to one of Thailand's most beautiful national parks for a dip beneath a waterfall.
Day 4 Ayuthaya
Explore the Buddhist monuments, ancient temples and royal ruins of this once majestic city. This former capital saw 33 kings come and go before eventually being destroyed by the Burmese.
Day 5 Chiang Mai
An Intrepid favourite, Chiang Mai brims with temples, shops and delicious food.
Days 6-8 Hilltribe Trek
Get off-the-beaten-track hiking through Thailand's remote northern hills. Stay overnight in simple traditional huts with local families, an amazing chance to learn about their fascinating cultures and day-to-day lives.
Day 9 Chiang Mai
Time for a well-deserved shower, massage or maybe even a cooking class. Shopaholics can get their fix at the lively night bazaar.
Day 10 Tha Ton
Watch the world awake from the riverside guesthouse and climb to Wat Tha Ton for wonderful views.
Days 11-12 Chiang Rai
From Chiang Rai, there's an option to visit the once-notorious Golden Triangle. For a glimpse of river life, take a boat trip down the Mekong.
Days 13-15 Bangkok
Returning to the capital, there's time to continue sight-seeing. Ride the Skytrain to Siam Square for some shopping, chow down on som tam (spicy papaya salad) at a street stall or explore Ko Ratanakosin, the ancient royal district.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
For other safety updates, please see our general safety updates page.

This trip is one of the best things i have ever done! I met some amazing people and saw incredible things! I wouldn't have seen half of these things if I were to do it alone. Our leader (Bett) was fantastic!
Kris Coulthard
