Days 1-2 Florence
Tuscany's cultural heart bursts with religious treasures and Renaissance masterpieces. A walk takes us through the streets of Florence, down lanes and past many famous sites, including the lofty dome of the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio. It is said that out of the 1,000 most important European artists of the second Millennium, a third lived in Florence. With that in mind it is well worth visiting the Uffizi gallery, home to artworks by Botticelli, Caravaggio and Raphael.
Days 3-4 Lucca
With its medieval walls, broad piazzas and old crooked buildings, the town of Lucca oozes Tuscan charm. After settling into our accommodation within the city walls, we head out for a leisurely cycle through the surrounding countryside along the scenic Serchio River. On our return there is the chance to ride on the city walls, a unique way of getting to know the town. The next day we sample local produce including wine, and enjoy free time to discover this Tuscan gem on your own.
Days 5-7 Pisa and Siena
The Leaning Tower seems to defy gravity and our visit enables us to uncover the story behind the oddity. We then take a short train ride south to one of Tuscany's most captivating cities. While its rival Florence bloomed during the Renaissance, Siena's striking architecture is strictly Gothic. Admire the frescoes in the Duomo, take in the lively atmosphere of the Piazza del Campo and catch sweeping views of the surrounding countryside while roaming Siena's meandering streets.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
