Days 1-2 Rome
Feel the history while exploring the ancient streets of Rome - there's something to see around every corner. Walk beneath the arches of the Colosseum, marvel at the mighty Pantheon or discover the many pretty fountains and piazzas that dot this marvellous city.
Day 3 Naples
The Phoenicians, Venetians, Africans and, of course, Romans have all left their mark on this compelling port city. Take the afternoon to explore the beautiful churches and museums to get a taste of Naples' fascinating past. There is also plenty of time to discover the city's modern side: wander through the heaving street markets and sample some world-famous Neopolitan pizza - the original, and some claim, the best.
Days 4-5 Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius
The ruins of Pompeii capture a single moment in time - the day the entire city was destroyed by a massive volcanic eruption 1928 years ago. The town's remains lay covered in ash until its re-discovery in the 18th century. Wander through these amazing ruins before trekking up the sleeping giant of Mount Vesuvius, for a truly awe-inspiring insight into the power of nature.
Days 6-9 Amalfi Coast
Enjoy rocky coastlines, azure seas and clear blue skies from the picture-perfect town of Sorrento. This has been a favourite tourist destination for at least 200 years and it's easy to see why. Walk along the 'Footpath of the Gods' for breathtaking views, and perhaps take a ferry to the Isle of Capri to listen out for the songs of the mythical Sirens. There is plenty of free time to relax in a sidewalk cafe and soak up the lazy atmosphere of the famed Amalfi Coast.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.

This was a well organised trip in general and I enjoyed it. The trip notes were wrong about the initial starting point in Rome. They said to catch an 889 bus from Termini to the Hotel Torre Rossa. My husband and I checked the previous day and found this was wrong. We rang Cynthia Graffio to alert her to the fact that the info was wrong. We had to catch the Metro to Corniglia and then catch the bus. As we didn't know where the appropriate bus left from in Corniglia and neither did anyone else we spent a frustrating half an hour in the heat with our bags trying to find where the bus left from.
The hotel was way out of town and Rome and I think it was an entirely inappropriate place as a joining point, especially as some of the people joining the group had just flown in from overseas. We walked to dinner from the hotel to Corniglia and I felt very unsafe as there was no footpath and traffic was rushing past. On the way back it was worse as it was completely dark. To her credit Cynthia took it all on the chin and kept her cool. I feel we had been badly let down by this incorrect information.
