Days 1-2 Kathmandu
Modern and historical, Kathmandu swarms with life and colour. Meet the monkeys while climbing to Swayambhunath, walk around the mammoth Boudhanath Stupa and delve into the magical history of Durbar Square in the Old City.
Day 3 Bhaktapur
The ancient city of Bhaktapur is a haven of intricate temples, grand old palaces and vibrant courtyards. Few cars enter the Old City, so wandering through the paved streets and narrow alleyways it is easy to get a sense of what Kathmandu was like before the modern world came knocking.
Day 4 Pokhara
Temples and palaces are replaced by soaring mountains and glass-like lakes. Once a vibrant trade route between India and Tibet, Pokhara later became a hippy hangout. These days it is the gateway to some of Nepal's greatest treks.
Days 5-14 Annapurna Ranges
Trek through lowland pastures, past peaceful villages, thundering waterfalls and powerful glaciers, surrounded always by unspeakably beautiful mountainscapes. While trekking the Annapurna Sanctuary is challenging, it allows you to experience the Nepalese mountains without the major issues associated with high altitude - the optional trek to the Annapurna base camp (4,130 m) is as high as we go. Staying in basic teahouses operated by the locals offers us the opportunity to learn about the daily lives of the Nepali hill people.
Days 15-16 Pokhara
The final trek is downhill all the way. Back in Pokhara enjoy a well-earned shower and end of trek celebration. There is plenty of time to relax, recover and reminisce.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
