Day 1 Arrive in Beijing
Arrival in Beijing
Day 2 Gubeikou
The morning to explore the breathtaking Tiananmen Square and the mysterious Forbidden City before going out to the Great Wall.
Day 3 Tiger Mountain
This part of the wall is a spectacular one that has not been touched by modern tourist.
Day 4 Jinshanling
A spectacular but demanding day, as we walk from Gubeiko to Jinshanling on an unreconstructed section of the original Wall, passing by ruined watchtowers and up and down many steep, crumbling staircases.
Day 5 Simatai
Today we pick up our walk from our hotel get back onto the wall where we left off yesterday.
Day 6 Wanginglou
We end the great wall challenge on one of the remotest sections of wall by lunchtime. Later catch an overnight train to start the next part of our adventure.
Day 7 Xi'an
Arrive early morning into Xian. A chance to relax and explore the old city
Day 8 Huashan climb
Early start to drive out to Huashan. Besides being a stunning mountain to climb, strewn with temples, shrines and statues along the trail, it's a great test of fitness. We stay overnight on the middle peak, taking in the stars and views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
Day 9 Terracotta Warriors
A sunrise climb gets us started for the day, and after an enjoyable cable car ride back to the bottom, we drive out to see the famed Terracotta Warriors.
Day 10 Flight to Beijing
Arrive early into Beijing. Rest of the day at leisure to explore the many sights of this amazing city such as the Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, or the Sackler Museum. In the evening, we celebrate our achievements with a Beijing Duck Dinner.

Please also read our safety guidelines for further information on the operational safety standards you can expect on every Intrepid trip.
On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
For other safety updates, please see our general safety updates page.
