Day 1 meet at airport
Meet at airport early morning. Arrive into Hong Kong the following morning.
Day 2 Hong Kong
You will arrive in Hong Kong just after midday and be transferred to your hotel. The afternoon is free for you to explore all that this magical city offers. A group meeting will be held in the afternoon and your group leader will collect the local payment of 277USD. Please ensure this money is in US dollar bills.
Day 3 Wuzhou
The challenge begins with a bus ride to the start point of Wuzhou.
Day 4 Taiping
Our first day's cycling in China is through sleepy villages where the pace of life is still dictated by the seasons and tradition. Cycling is a way of life in China, and the locals are delighted to see us travelling as they do.
Day 5 Mengshan
We cycle past bamboo groves and farms lying along the Mei River Valley today, with more than a few hills to conquer along the way. It's a long day of cycling as we burn up the road between Taiping and Mengshan.
Day 6 Yangshou
Magical views of eroded limestone mountains rise out of the flat river plains. On the banks of the beautiful Li River and surrounded by tall karst peaks, it's one of the most distinctive areas in China.
Day 7 Yangshuo area
This is one of our most enjoyable day's cycling as we ride to Moon Hill before hiking up, then travel on through small towns and gorgeous countryside before returning to Yangshuo in the afternoon.
Day 8 Rest day
Spend this free day cruising the river, taking Tai Chi or cooking lessons, exploring more of the sublime countryside or just relaxing in one of the many delightful cafes and restaurants.
Day 9 Xingping
Quiet back roads, rice paddies and small friendly villages are the order of the day, as we cycle further up the Li River.
Day 10 cycle to Guilin
Our last days ride into Guilin will take us along rural roads following the
Li River. Celebration dinner to mark our achievements.
Day 11 Guilin
Transfer from hotel to Guilin airport and board a plane for Guangzhou and transfer for our International flight that afternoon.
Day 12 Arrive home
Our overnight flight arrives back into Australia early this morning.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
For other safety updates, please see our general safety updates page.
