Day 1 Nairobi
Meet the group in the cultural melting pot of Nairobi.
Days 2-3 Samburu
Enjoy time in the Samburu National Reserve viewing wildlife not found in the country's southern parks, such as reticulated giraffes, Grevy's zebras, gerenuk antelopes and oryx. This region is home to a fascinating mix of colourful nomadic tribes who retain their traditional ways of life. Enjoy an optional visit with the Samburu people.
Day 4 Lake Nakuru
Set off on a game drive in search of endangered black rhinos, elusive leopards and the abundant flamingos that make this park famous.
Day 5 Lake Naivasha
Find a comfortable spot to sit and watch hippos wallowing in Lake Naivasha or enjoy an optional boat trip on its calm waters.
Days 6-7 Masai Mara
Look out for lions, gazelles, elephants and cheetahs while on safari in the magnificent Masai Mara. To catch a sunrise over the golden plains, it is possible to take an unforgettable early morning balloon safari trip.
Day 8 Arusha
Travel across the Great Rift Valley, maybe seeing the brilliantly-attired Masai tending to their herds of cattle.
Day 9 Lake Manyara
Explore the Lake Manyara National Park, known for its beautiful bird life. It also has an excellent hippo pool, a great chance to see these impressive animals.
Days 10-11 Serengeti National Park
This enormous park is famous for its large herds of herbivores - like zebras and wildebeest - and where these animals graze, predators are never far behind. Fall asleep listening to the sounds of nocturnal animals.
Day 12 Ngorongoro Crater
Take a look at how mankind's ancestors lived over a million years ago in the Olduvai Gorge. Then set up camp atop the Ngorongoro Crater rim, overlooking a string of other volcanos and calderas in the distance.
Day 13 Karatu
Cross the massive crater floor for a close-range view of some of the 30,000 creatures that live here, including enormous elephants.
Day 14 Tarangire
Towering ancient baobabs dominate the savannah landscape, providing a perfect habitat for brightly coloured birds. Interesting animals like the oryx, kudus and elands also live here.
Day 15 Arusha/ Nairobi
Catch a glimpse of distinctive Masai tribespeople on the journey back to Kenya.

The Trip Notes provide you with a detailed outline of your trip itinerary, and important information like where to meet your group, what to pack, what's included, estimates of spending money requirements and much more. They make great reading.
These documents have been prepared by Intrepid staff to give you a brief introduction to the places you are visiting. We think it's important to understand the culture you are visiting, and the expectations of their society.
Intrepid is committed to a style of travel that is environmentally, culturally and socially responsible - we call this 'Responsible Travel'. Download this document and visit the About Intrepid section of this site for more information about how to be a Responsible Traveller.
Please also read our safety guidelines for further information on the operational safety standards you can expect on every Intrepid trip.
On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
For other safety updates, please see our general safety updates page.
Every day, hundreds of happy people return from Intrepid trips, and their comments are here for you to read. We do not screen the feedback on this site, all comments are posted here as they were written (unless they used inappropriate language).
The trip was a wonderful experience that included wildlife, local culture and "real" experiences.
