Day 1 Nairobi
Explore the biggest city between Cairo and Johannesburg to discover Africa's urban side.
Days 2-3 Samburu
The traditional thatched roofs of Kikuyu houses are easily spotted en route to the tribal lands of the Samburu. The Ewaso Nyiro River cuts a swathe through the parched soil of the national reserve, with its distinctive semi-arid lands. The Samburu reserve is famous for its reticulated giraffes, gerenuks, oryx and Grevy's zebras. From the verandah of the lodge it's possible to relax and look out at the river, its brown waters concealing hungry crocodiles.
Day 4 Aberdare National Park
Spend the night at a famous game-viewing hotel. Standing up on 12 m high stilts among the trees, the hotel offers superb panoramic views of the forest wildlife below. From the hotel verandah, spy on the many creatures that come to drink at its nearby waterhole. Buffaloes, rhinos, elephants, giant forest hogs and antelopes are common visitors.
Day 5 Lake Nakuru
Travel to the heart of the scenic Great Rift Valley. See the famous flamingos of Lake Nakuru and embark on game drives to look for the rare black and white rhinos that seek sanctuary here. Seeing these magnificent creatures is an unforgettable experience.
Days 6-7 Masai Mara Reserve
Elephants, zebras, lions and wildebeest abound in the Masai Mara. Venture out in the mornings and afternoons, taking a cue from the animals and resting during the midday heat. From the reassuring confines of a vehicle, try to spot an elusive leopard in the boughs of acacia trees.
Day 8 Nairobi
Leave the wilderness behind for a night in Nairobi, perhaps heading out for a meal at a good restaurant before turning in for the night.
Day 9 Lake Manyara
Located across the border in Tanzania, this scenic national park promises an incredible safari experience and is home to black-maned, tree-climbing lions. Its picturesque lake is home to a large number of birds, including flamingos and pelicans.
Days 10-11 Serengeti National Park
Meaning 'endless plains' in the Masai language, the expansive Serengeti is home to over 2 million herbivores and thousands of predators. Safaris at dusk and dawn travel right into the drama of feeding time in the savannah.
Days 12-13 Ngorongoro Crater
After a morning game drive, visit the Cradle of Mankind, where prehistoric humanoid remains have been found. Descend into the immense Ngorongoro Crater, the remains of an ancient volcano, for one last look at Africa's incredible wildlife. This is a great chance to spot the Big Five and many more iconic African animals.
Day 14 Nairobi
Return via Arusha to the urban buzz of Kenya's capital. Why not head out for a drink and a chatter about the sights and thrills of your African safari experience?

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
For other safety updates, please see our general safety updates page.

Both the Kenya and Tanzania segments were excellent. Host countries/people were welcoming and accommodating. Guides/drivers were professional in every way. Lodges were great. Game viewing was amazing. A very fulfilling experience.
Robert Day
The trip was great, guides were fantastic. Quality of Accommadation in the Kenya lodges was top class but this went downhill in Tanzania, from 4 star to motel standard. The Tree Tops place was a brilliant. It was our New Years Eve celbrations. Quality of food in second part of trip not good. Dissappointing after Kenya. All in all we had a ball. Saw all the animals many times, fantastic.
Kevin O Loughlin
