Day 1 Mombasa
Stay at a magnificently situated beach resort just a stone's throw from the tumult of Mombasa's streets, overlooking pure, white sands and the deep blue waters of the Indian Ocean.
Days 2-4 Beach Break
Make the most of the African sun, sea and surf. Consider venturing out on a glass-bottomed boat to witness the spectacle of undersea life. Or don a mask and flippers - the coral reefs off the Kenyan coast are impressive and you might even see a huge but harmless whale shark. Work up a tan, windsurf, scuba dive, sail or go deep-sea fishing - the choice is completely yours. There are also two swimming pools and a soothing jacuzzi on the resort grounds in addition to floodlit tennis courts, snooker tables and a nearby golf course. Set in lovely gardens, the rooms are decorated in African style and are an ideal place to take a snooze. Otherwise, head into the city for a bit of exploration - a trip downtown takes a mere 10 minutes. One of the oldest settlements in the world, Mombasa is mentioned in scriptures dating back 2,500 years and the Old Town is a jumble of interesting laneways and intricately decorated buildings. There's delicious, authentic Swahili cuisine to be had here so make sure to stop and refuel. Fort Jesus, built by the Portuguese in the 16th century, watches over the harbour and its museum offers a fascinating insight into the long history of this trading port and the cultures of the nine Mijikenda tribes that were the original inhabitants of this stretch of coast.
Day 5 Mombasa
Have a leisurely breakfast and one last invigorating dip before transferring to Mombasa Airport.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
