Day 1 Chiang Mai
Thailand's beloved northern capital is a hive of activity. See some of the city's 300 temples, take a cooking class at the famed Chiang Mai cooking school, bargain hard at the night bazaar or hire a bike and head into the countryside to warm up legs for the hilltribe trek ahead.
Days 2-4 Hilltribe Trek
Incredible views and an amazing cultural experience await. Pull on the boots and hike in the northern hills for a fantastic adventure through rural landscapes and remote villages. Wander along village tracks, past rice terraces and banana forests to reach basic overnight huts. Staying in the huts is part of the fun and a great chance to get to know the locals and learn about their lives. The villagers grow rice and vegetables along the slopes and when in season, this fertile region becomes a photographers' dream. On the return journey, take it easy on the last leg and thumb a lift from an elephant. Riding on one of these gentle giants is always lots of fun.
Day 5 Chiang Mai/ Overnight Train
Back in Chiang Mai, there is plenty of time for sightseeing, or simply revel in some serious relaxation. Get a traditional Thai massage, attend a yoga session, scale the limestone cliffs known as Crazy Horse Buttress, walk up to the Doi Suthep temple or chat with a monk at Wat Suan Dok before boarding the fan-cooled overnight train bound for Bangkok.
Day 6 Bangkok
The fantastic adventure finishes off in Bangkok. For those who wish to stay on for a few days, there is plenty to see and do and the city provides a striking contrast to the laid-back lifestyle of the hilltribes.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.

An incredible trip that was both challenging and rewarding giving a great sense of ahievement when completing the Trek. Our guide, Dong was knowledgable, amusing and dependable. A real character that made the trek really enjoyable. We felt privaliged to gain an insight into his heritage and was so good to have a local guide who knew the local customs and assured that we did not offend the local villagers. Also very greatfull to Mr B and Rambo for their brilliant skill and for excellent service and care. Was an incredible trek of a life time, one not to be missed.

Trip was fantastic! - I have done Gecko's before and I thought Intrepid were much better. Lek really made the Journey enjoyable and I thought the local guides were great to. The tour was well structured and for only a 6 day tour we incorporated so much. Very Worthwhile! Highly reccomend

The guides, especially the local guides, were fabulous. The activities were all very exciting and unique. The food was second-to-none. The places we stayed were experience unto themselves. Though we went to very exotic places, the guides did an excellent job of always make sure the other group members and I were comfortable and happy, yet they never overwhelmed us. Overall, I had a wonderful trip, and an excellent cultural experience.
