Day 1 Bangkok
There are so many exciting ways to see the sights of Bangkok; hail a tuk tuk and join the throng of people hurrying through the streets, look down on the city from the skytrain or travel the traditional way, by boat.
Days 2-3 Kanchanaburi
Cruise through the canals of Bangkok to see the magnificent Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho and explore the city's chaotic floating markets. Then it's off to Kanchanaburi, our base for visiting the infamous Bridge on the River Kwai and to take a dip in the seven-tiered waterfall of Erawan National Park.
Day 4 Ayuthaya
Explore the ancient temples and sprawling ruins of Ayuthaya where 33 kings ruled Siam. There's plenty of time to explore, have a fascinating look at one of the richest periods in Siamese history and maybe even sneak in a game of hide and seek among the ruins!
Day 5 Chiang Mai
Get up close to hippos, gibbons and rhinos at the Chiang Mai Zoo. Enjoy the views from the hilltop temple of Doi Suthep before an evening at the colourful night market.
Day 6 Elephant Conservation Centre/ Homestay
Visit the nearby Elephant Conservation Centre and watch them bathe before taking an unforgettable ride on one of these majestic creatures, through the jungle. Spend the night in a small Thai village and be welcomed into homes by our long-time local friends. Take a gentle bike ride around through the surrounding countryside before being treated to a traditional Thai khantohk dinner.
Days 7-9 Chiang Mai
Get up early and join the locals in giving alms to the monks or perhaps start the day stretching out with a yoga session. Jump on board bicycles and head out to the countryside to get a taste of rural life. There are loads of fun things for everyone in Chiang Mai. Take a boat trip down the river, explore the many temples or even try a Thai cooking class.
Days 10-12 Hua Hin
It's time to relax with some beachside fun. Cruise to a nearby island on a speedboat and maybe try your hand at fishing or try out water sports. In the evenings there's plenty of opportunity to sample the local food and maybe catch a fire dancing show.
Days 13-14 Bangkok
Returning to Bangkok there are still so many great sights to see. Check out the Grand Palace and Chinatown or visit the many markets.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
For other safety updates, please see our general safety updates page.

Our tour was a great success with all families getting on well. We all enjoyed the food and variation of transport. Our guide was excellent and very patient with the children. The one disappointment would have been the first hotel we stayed in which is definately very tired

Trip was all that we had hoped for and more. We feel we came away with a great overview of Thailand and its people and culture. Fabulous leader, great accommodation and lots of fun for all the family. We will be booking with Intrepid again.
