important notes:
1. This tour starts at 14:00 on day 1.
Please note: This trip has changed significantly to what was brochured in September 2007. Based on significant constructive feedback from customers in 2007 we have removed the Agean Isalnd section of the brochured trip and whilst we visit Kabak we no longer stay there. The logisitics of getting to the island meant there wasn't sufficient time to enjoy it. Also the bike riding on the island was consistently deemed way too pedestrian for an active trip.
All inclusions remain the same but may be in different areas. We believe we now have a significantly better product for the same price than what was initially brochured.
We have also added a walking tour of the Gallipoli Battlefields to this trip which is the region that during WW1 formed the impetus for the formation of the Republic of Turkey and brought the Father of Turkey - Ataturk into the public consciousness for the first time.
Day 1 Istanbul
Stretch those legs in the backstreets of Istanbul in search of the city's hidden charms and watch the sun set over the Sultanahmet skyline.
Days 2-3 Canakkale
Today we stroll through history as we tour the battlefields of Gallipoli and look for shipwrecks as we snorkel in Anzac Cove. Bring your bathers and your tissues you will need both of them.
Day 4 Selcuk
Visit the historic Roman ruins of Ephesus before returning to Selcuk. A great way to enjoy free time here is by indulging in a bath at the local hamam.
Day 5 Fethiye
The seaside town of Fethiye provides a chance to visit the ghost-deserted Greek village of Kayakoy.
Day 6 Faralya
Hike the ancient trails of the Lycian Way, through olive groves, carob gardens and ancient relics. Visit remote villages and take in stunning views of the Mediterranean along the way
Day 7-9 Kas
Trek along pine clad mountain tracks and arrive in Kabak, Turkey's coolest chillout destination, then take an afternoon swim in the famous Blue Lagoon. Exchange hiking boots for oars on a kayaking adventure. Check out a sunken Byzantine city, hidden coves and traditional fishing villages before heading to pretty Kas.
Pedal power is required as we collect our bikes load them on our jeeps and head to the hills. Here we get to cycle through some of the best country side Turkey has on offer with views of the fabulous Turquoise coast. We will get to see some village life and enjoy a picnic along the way.
Days 10-11 Pamukkale
The chalky terraces of Pamukkale and the hot springs of Heiropolis make a fascinating visit before catching an overnight train. On Arrival in Istanbul we will take an early morning ferry ride across the Bosphorus to the European shore and marvel at Istanbul's stunning skyline.
Day 12 Istanbul
The tour finishes at mid-day so make sure you take the time to visit the Rustem Pasha Mosque, Suleyman the Magnificent's mosque complex, the Topkapi Palace and iconic Blue Mosque before saying goodbye to wonderful Turkey.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
For other safety updates, please see our general safety updates page.

Great trip, well organised, great leaders, good group, excellent

Turkey Active was just what I wanted from my first visit to Turkey. The activites suited my requirement for both physical activity and an up close introduction to Turkish culture and history. I am a fit and active 58 year old and thoroughly enjoyed travelling with a group ranging in age from 22 to 63.

Superb Trip. Wonderful group of people. Perhaps because the trip was billed as an "active" trip it only attracted interesting, responsible and active people
(edward) Brin Williman
Very disappointed on joining trip to find leader had not done the trip, did not speak the language, or have a great knowledge of the history, economics, culture of the country. This was not the leaders fault as she was dropped into the trip but it did affect the trip greatly.
Karen Clifton
Gret trip wonderful people - would have liked less big bus travel and more small group travel
despite the theory there was little interaction with local on the big haul trips
