Days 1-2 Istanbul
Step into a magical world of colourful bazaars, mysterious mosques, hidden side streets and delicious turkish delight. Explore the sights on a walking tour and travel between Europe and Asia on a ferry cruise along the Bosphorus. Be sure to catch a mystical Whirling Dervish performance while you have the chance!
Days 3-4 Selcuk
Wander the cobblestone streets of Selcuk and delve into the history of the Roman gladiators at the local museum. After learning how to make delicious gozleme, the traditional Turkish pancake, explore a mysterious cave where legend has it that 7 young men fell asleep. When they woke up, thinking it was the next day they were surprised to find they were old and decades had passed! Step back in time at the awe-inspiring ancient city of Ephesus. There is time for some fun in the sun at the beach afterwards, or visit a local folk museum.
Day 5 Pamukkale
The gleaming calcium terraces of Pamukkale will wow the kids as well as educate them on a natural phenomenon. Enjoy a memorable family day as you explore the ancient Hierapolis and soak away any aches and pains in the hot springs as ancients have done for millienia!
Day 6 Lake Egirdir
The stunning town of Egirdir is perched on the edge of an enormous lake of the same name, whose tranquil waters mirror the majestic Mt Davraz. Enjoy sweeping views, fresh fish dinners and perhaps a relaxing boat trip or bike ride.
Days 7-10 Goreme
Experience local hospitality and hone your language skills on a visit to the traditional stone home of our Turkish hosts. Later, explore the surreal landscape of Cappadocia and visit the 'fairy chimney' village of Goreme. Trek through the Ilhara Gorge before heading underground to explore the city of Derinkuyu. The city was used as a hiding place centuries ago and stretches two to three storeys underground! In your free time, keep an eye out for belly-dancing performances or take off in a hot air balloon - an experience the whole family will enjoy.
Days 11-12 Istanbul
Arriving back in magical Istanbul, visit the opulent Topkapi Palace, home of the exotic sultans and many important treasures. Before saying goodbye, there is free time to browse the Grand Bazaar for colourful artifacts and unique souvenirs. Take a break from shopping and stop for an apple tea at one of the cafes inside.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.

A great family trip, with a great leader and tremendous diversity. I would thoroughly recommend seeing Turkey with Intrepid to any traveller as a must see destination.

Try Ayran (the local drink)!! Go to the Turkish night.
Nice steady paced family trip to study the culture, mix with the locals, eat the food and see the sites of Turkey.
