Days 1-2 Moscow
The journey begins in one of the great capitals of the world. Visit the Kremlin to discover its impressive collection of imperial treasures, such as exquisite Faberge eggs and ceremonial regalia. There are also magnificent cathedrals and museums within the walls of the Kremlin to see, before heading off to explore the city's many monuments.
Days 3-4 Vladimir and Suzdal
Marvel at the glittering towns and former Russian capitals that form part of the Golden Ring. Inspect the elaborate frescoes on the walls of the Assumption Cathedral in Vladimir, before travelling to Suzdal, a town with a remarkable number of churches and a memorable skyline. Here, wind down with a glass of medovukha, a light alcoholic drink made from honey, before settling into a traditional Russian house for the night.
Day 5 Novgorod
Russia's oldest city is an absolute gem. Take a guided tour of the many well-preserved architectural monuments that hint at the city's former glory. Enter the Kremlin walls to go back a thousand years in time - the oldest palace, bell and clock tower in Russia are all here, as is the Millennium Monument which tells the story of Russia's grand history.
Days 6-8 St Petersburg
Take a guided city tour to learn about the many historical characters associated with the beautiful old world sights of St Petersburg. This former imperial capital boasts the magnificent Hermitage Museum, located inside the opulent Winter Palace. Spend an afternoon browsing the museum's millions of artistic masterpieces from all over the world.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.

I enjoyed my trip. Ivan, our trip leader, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and looked after all of us extremely well. The only negative I would raise was the standard of accommodation on the trip, which was, particularly in St Petersburg, quite poor.

The trip in Russia was a real eye opener. I found that the Russians aren't ready to receive the onslaught of tourists that are visiting their country. I was surprised at the number of cars in the cities and the countryside. Now everybody is an entrpeneur....a new found freedom. I am glad that I had the opportunity to visit this country on the cusp of expansion toward western thinking. In another 5years there will be a tramatic change to that country.

Exactly as the trip describes, a taste of Russia. We experienced both city and country russia. We had a fantastic time with our group and we even learnt a bit of Russian from our group leader. Definitely going to try and go back to Russia.

Sites, transport and acomodation was very well, but the guide needed a lot more experience.
