Days 1-2 Kathmandu
Chaotic, colourful and culturally rich, Kathmandu is a fascinating mixture of legend and life. Climb to the hilltop 'monkey temple' of Swayambhunath and keep an eye out for the living goddess on a guided walk through the old city to Durbar Square.
Days 3-4 Chitwan National Park
There's an opportunity to try out white water rafting, before heading to the Royal Chitwan National Park. Keep your eyes peeled for deer, monkeys, tigers and a wide array of bird life on an exciting wildlife safari. There are also optional activites, like a visit to the Crocodile Breeding Centre, an elephant ride to spot rhinos or even a trip down the lazy Rapti River in a dugout canoe.
Day 5 Bandipur
The charming ridgetop village of Bandipur is well off the main tourist trails. As a one street town, there's plenty of opportunities to meet the locals. The views of the mountain ranges form a perfect backdrop for a walk through the countryside and there's also time to visit the Bindabasini temple; residence of Bandipur's guardian deity, the goddess Durga.
Day 6 Pokhara
The Annapurna Ranges and a picturesque lake create a breathtaking setting to this easy-going town. Head for Sarangkot for superb views or cycle to nearby Tibetan villages specialising in traditional crafts.
Day 7 Overnight Trek
Savour the awesome Himalayan views, friendly smiling faces and crisp mountain air on a fully supported trek through the hills. Spend the night camping among the mountains, the perfect opportunity to awake early for a Himalayan sunrise.
Day 8 Pokhara
Celebrate your trekking achievements in Pokhara where you can be as lazy or active as you want. Take a boat out onto the lake, cycle to some nearby Tibetan villages or watch Nepalese life go by at one of the many international cafes.
Day 9 Nagarkot
With views over almost the entire length of Nepal's Himalayas, Nargakot is an ideal place to sit back and enjoy the view or join in a bit of kite flying with the locals!
Days 10-11 Kathmandu
Start the day with a walk through forests and villages to the temple of Changu Narayan. On the return journey to Kathmandu, stop by Bhaktapur and wander the narrow streets to riverside temples, an ideal finish to a fantastic family adventure.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.

While we really did enjoy the trip, and don't regret doing it, it wasn't as "adventurous" as we had expected. The trip notes were somewhat misleading, but as a cultural experience it was well worthwhile. In the interest of keeping the family entertained I recommend checking to ensure you are not the only family on the trip.

Our Nepal Family Adventure was amazing, it really exceeded our expectations. The highlights were the people, beautiful and gracious that embraced us with constant smiles and joy. The opportunity to Trek with my daughter was an experience we will never forget. The mountains, the villages, the local children. Intrepid constantly went out of their way to ensure all of our enjoyment, safety and sought opportuniites to cater for our unique needs. I would highly recommend this experience to any family looking to travel to Nepal. Go ahead it will be worth it.
Anne-louise Mclean
Intrepid filled us with confidence right from the start. There attention to detail, especially when travelling with children, was outstanding. We could not recommend them highly enough.
