Day 2 Kathmandu sightseeing - flight to Pokhara.
Visit the monkey temple of Swayambhunath. Situated on a hilltop, the instantly recognisable stupa with its Buddha eyes attracts a steady stream of pilgrims and the views out over the valley are superb. Take a walk through the heart of the old city to historic Durbar Square, home to the palace of the Kumari Devi, considered to be a living Goddess.
Days 3-6 Himalayan trekking - fully escorted tented trek.
Get a real feel for the spectacular Himalayas! The ridge above the village of Sikles affords views of the Eastern Annapurnas which are stunnngly spectacular. Walking on local trails and through small villages, the awesome views, smiling faces and personal achievement imbues every traveller with an inner glow.
Day 7 Trekking - return to Pokhara.
Waking to the crisp mountain air and dramatic mountain views, head back to Pokhara, stopping for lunch en route. The luxury of our accomodation and a well earned bath awaits after another few hours walking.
Day 8 The Ancient town of Bandipur
Bandipur is well off the main tourist trails so it is rare to meet many other travellers here. The views are stupendous, as is the warm local welcome.
Day 9 Drive to Chitwan National Park - jungle safari.
Of all the world's remaining jungles, one of the most enchanting is Royal Chitwan National Park. Discover a lost world of towering trees and twisting vines, of pre-historic rhino and lumbering elephants, of crocodile, python and deer, of brilliantly coloured birds and perhaps even the superb Royal Bengal Tiger.
Day 10 Chitwan National Park - elephant back rhino watch.
Wake at dawn to roam through the jungle on elephant back, and end the day with quiet talk around the camp fire at Chitwan Jungle Lodge.
Day 11 Chitwan National Park - return to Kathmandu.
Squeeze in some more exploration of the National Park before the drive back to Kathmandu.
Day 12 Depart Kathmandu
Explore vibrant Kathmandu and depart whenever you wish.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.

A fantastic trip with Intrepid in conjunction with Himalayan Encounters. Our tour guide was wonderful and the trek was absolutely amazing! I would definitely travel with Intrepid again!
