On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.

This is a great trip

Overall very good trip, well organised but some communication issues could be addressed such as last minute changes to the itenary - very unexpected to have two days camping in Wadi Rum, most people had only brought sleeping sheets as opposed to sleeping bags, not acceptable to caveat the itenary changes on the website, most people are working right up to date of departure adn do no have opportunity to change packing requirements at last minute trip is exp[ensive enough without having having to contend for unforseen circumstances that become known only at group meeting or indeed later on in the trip.

An excellent trip

The trip was overall very good - the itinerary and the activities involved were outstanding however, I was not at all satisfied with a couple of things 1) the trip notes were very inaccurate and outdated including the basic cost structure.
2) the last minute cancellation of the room booked pre-trip start date - which meant I had to scramble at the very last minute to find another room. Note: I later found out from our trip leader that the room was infact reserved and available!

The 'active' itinerary is the best part about this trip.
