Day 1 Miri
Expect to rub shoulders with expats, Chinese traders and tribal people in this oil boomtown. If there's time, check out the wet markets for an introduction to the many cultures that give Miri its character.
Days 2-5 Mulu National Park
Embark on a thrilling two-day journey along the Headhunter's Trail, venturing into spectacular caves filled with millions of bats. Hang around until dusk because it's an incredible sight watching these creatures come out to feed.
Day 6 Kuching
Get a taste of the city again before heading back out into the wild. Kuching was once given to English adventurer Sir James Brooke as a thank you present and his family ruled it until 1946!
Days 7-8 Iban Longhouse
Learn about the amazing history and culture of the Iban people who welcome us into their longhouses. Get an insight into their day to day life and maybe even knock back a glass of the local firewater with them in the evening.
Days 9-10 Kuching
Returning to Kuching take the time to explore the fascinating Kuching Museum and take a stroll along the river bank. This is a great chance to stock up on interesting souvenirs before we say farewell.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
For other safety updates, please see our general safety updates page.
