important notes:
For the trip departing Paris on the 12th July we have a slight change to the itinerary planned. Owing to a trade fair and local holiday in Avignon, there is no accommodation to be had in the town at all. We have instead managed to secure accomodation at a better standard hotel in Arles.
Under normal circumstances the trip stays in Avignon for one night and visits Arles as a day trip. For this particular departure will stay in Arles and visit Avignon as a day trip. The inclusions will be exactly the same, you will see exactly the same places and attractions as you would normally see, but you will be sleeping in a Arles instead of Avignon.

Days 1-2 Paris
Get acquainted with the wide boulevards, cultural treasures and chic fashions that make this city so special. Climb the iconic Eiffel Tower for amazing views. A free afternoon offers plenty of time to explore the Musee du Louvre, visit the Notre Dame Cathedral or people-watch while sipping cafe au lait.
Days 3-4 Burgundy
Graced with Romanesque architecture and some of the best wines in the country, Dijon is the capital of France's richest region and there is plenty of time to explore this lovely city. Afterwards, enjoy a meal of regional specialties in Beaune and visit some of Burgundy's world-famous wineries.
Day 5 Avignon
Travel by train to the picturesque town of Avignon, the residence of French Popes for more than a century. Its history will be revealed on a visit to the Palais des Papes, the biggest Gothic palace in the world.
Days 6-8 Arles and The Riviera
Take a walk around Arles, rich in Roman monuments and artistic history, before heading to the heart of the French Riviera, Nice. There is time to relax and explore the beaches, nightlife and glamour of the Cote d'Azur. Once refreshed, take a day trip to Monaco. This glitzy state provides the perfect opportunity to live it up with Europe's highrollers - perhaps at the famed Monte Carlo casino. Or escape the glamour at the quirky Jardin Exotique, home to thousands of cacti.
Days 9-10 Cinque Terre
Take a coastal train to the Cinque Terre, Italy's famous 'five lands'. With mountains above and the sea below, the coastal path that connects the villages of the Cinque Terre is spectacular. Take the opportunity to enjoy a dip in the ocean or dine on fresh seafood by the waterfront.
Days 11-13 Florence and Pisa
Enjoy the fountains, statues and buildings that give Florence its reputation as an outdoor museum. Take in the best of the city including the Ponte Vecchio, the 13th century Duomo and the quintessential Italian sunset over the city's famous skyline of roofs. There is ample free time to admire Michelangelo's David, visit the treasured Medici Chapels or wander through the long galleries of the Uffizi.
Days 14-15 Rome
Enjoy a final train ride into the city of Rome. The Eternal City is both hectic and timeless, and home to some of the most amazing sights in Europe. Visit the iconic Colosseum before a final dinner brings this classical journey to an end.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.

Thanks Intrepid, we had a great time. It sure is a great way to see a new country and have some new experiences. We had a top tour leader and meet some really nice people.

Had a great time. Went with a girlfriend, both early 50's. We were the 'oldies', but a great bunch of people and ages didn't seem to matter. The small group and plenty of free time seems a key to success.
Beth Davis
We all had such a brilliant time, the small group was a wonderful experience, you really got to know everyone and we all became good friends. The trip was so relaxing and you really feel like you have absorbed the culture of the countries you've visited. Our group leader spent his whole day making sure we were having a good time, even on the free days! I would highly recommend this unique experience
Sarah Brodie
The tour was excellent. Well organsied and the trip leader was fantastic. Emmanuel had great local knowledge adn always made sure that we knew what we were doing and where everything was. If we had a question he normally knew the answer or would find out straight away if he didn't.
